That's really casting the bait JR!

Yes indeed, and did you know that Waddy listed Maruyama in his top five of Kohaku breeders, this was 2001/02 in an International Magazine?

Andrew , would you expect anything else! I like to pride myself as being inside the insiders! Its kinda obvious the insiders aren't aware--- but I think you might be?! LOL

Waddy hasn't been down there in years as far as I know? Isawa/yamanashi is just back on the ‘short list’ this year as far as I know? Maruyama Gensuke just had to weather the storm. Good fish, but unsaleable for a while. Good to see the stigma has passed. JR

So, what is wrong with the fish? Little more insight on this? Seems to be a "BIG" issue if Waddy isn't considering them in the top 5 of Kohaku breeders now.

Mmm.. I didn't say Waddy had been down there and I don't believe anyone's saying Waddy doesn't consider them in his top five anymore, he may not but that isn't being said.

It was in one of the quarterly mags, Waddy was either asked or he offered in one of his articles, his top kohaku breeders, and Maruyama was one of them, and there was a brief explanation.

What makes a breeder #1? It seems like one year everyone thinks one breeder is the best then the next year that breeder is down on the list. Do you guy's base this on year to year who's the best? If a breeder wins the all Japan show as GC does the bring his name up on the list.

The other question is how many breeders bred those koi? I have heard some breeder buy koi then they are sold as there koi. Ogata is one of them from what I have heard. They can't breed enough koi to sell, so they buy from other small breeders and are sold with the name Ogata.
