I have the pendulum type demand feeder. The tosai arent strong enough to push the stick to release pellets, so I will watch and the large momma ogon will come by, release some pellets, and swim away and not even attempt to eat. Way cool to watch.

Smile On demand feeders?

Are these avaliable in the UK? They look like they will be fun for the koi,not to mention for us watching them.

The results are IN! It took my fish less than 24 hours to figure out how to pull the leather lures to get the food. I am impressed with the product. I can tell when they are using it, as a little door opens when the koi pull the lure and it makes a "clack" sound. Then, the crew line up and begin feeding like mad.

According to their brochure, Kichi Systems ship internationally and ask customers to e-mail them at www.kichisystems.com for rate information.

Question Chris C

"The results are IN! It took my fish less than 24 hours to figure out how to pull the leather lures to get the food."

Leather lures??? All I got was a 6" piece of nylon string...I got ripped...

All kidding aside...what does the leather look like, was it like a shoe lace? Am concerned that the nylon might cut the koi's mouth when he pulls on it... was looking for something thicker...Changed to a 3/16" diameter cotton cord, but koi wouldn't go for it...After two days went back to nylon and all was fine...

Aloha! Mike

Smile

What we need is someone to come up with a great DIY that works and the cheap koi hobbiest will be in business. I think we need one of you smart un to disassemble a feeder like a child would do, and put it back together. Ya see how it works, and then make one yourself, what ya got! Great DIY When someone learns how to build one and teaches me, well then, I will be a happy camper. The cost of one of these feeder are just a little to high

Sorry Mike T!!

The leather lure looks exactly like a shoe lace. It is about six inches long, doubled in the middle and attached to the nylon cord so that the two 3 inch pieces hang into the water but the nylon doesn't. They suggest dipping the leather into vegetable oil "for faster results" which I did. No idea if that hastened the process.

Thumbs down Koifishgirl

The idea is actually very simple and easy to copy....HOWEVER, you'd have to purchase special wood, waterproof glues, and plastic...

As a 5th generation woodworker I can tell you, unless you have the proper tools and have nothing else to do...It's cheaper to purchase it...

Besides, the guys who came up with this idea deserve something for making our lives easier...

24 hours? Amazing. I guess it is too much to hope that you were there when they first figured it out.
