If you go to my site and find the EA section there is a link to the full installation/operation manual for the Eazy which should answer most of your questions I think.

The video was taken at Evolution Aqua, the pond is indoors and i'd guess the full clean took 5 mins. It's a pretty leisurely task and you don't even need to get your hands wet.

I've got one sat in the garden waiting to be installed today in place of a vortex and answer combo.

Mark you have some great info on your site thank you.

Since the test were done on a indoor tank these test of the Eazy doesn't say much for me. A indoor tank is like night and day compaired to a outdoor pond. The foam blocks did great on a indoor tank from what I have heard and they don't work well at all on a outdoor pond. I guess time will tell with the Eazy. I do hope it is the answer to the Answer.

Here's my big concen with them. If they are not cleaned every few days is it going to plug up with algae, leaf and any other things that might go into the filter. On the picture Tim posted on the NI board you saw all the waste in just one day trapped on the out sdie of it.

Here's a picture from my filter just taken. I was out of town for a few days and you can see how much was in the settling tank on my Nexus. I'm just guessing that this waste would be stuck to the screen and blocking the flow to the Eazy. If I was to go out of town for a few weeks I'm guessing it would suck the pump dry. I would like to know your thoughts on this as a hobbyist not a dealer.

I don't think it's a 'leave' it for a week filter however maintenance is so simple it doesn't need to be.

Mark I am so with you on the Nexus, Answer or Eazy is a filter that should be cleaned more than once a week. But in so many cases we have to go away for days, if not weeks. I am gone every week for three days. When I am home I dump my Nexus everyday. Some might ask why, that's just the way I do it. I don't like any waste sitting in the filters. I also think just about everyone goes on vacation. Some people for a few weeks at a time. This is why we need something we can count on for days way from it. The problem is, most people don't have people that know much about ponds taking care of there ponds. We can't count on these people to clean the filter if they need cleaning during this time? For me all I will have them do is feed the koi. Each day of food is put in a ziplock bag to make sure nothing happens to the koi.

I guess time will tell with this new product. Again I'm hoping so much it will be the answer to the Answer for most. I would love it if I could do away the the cost to run my two Answers. My pond cost about $150.00 a month to run. I would love to be able to cut that way down with this new Eazy.

For some reason people don't like to talk about problems with some products. I have alway told it like I see it. Some times it gets people mad at me, but people need to know of any problems they might have with a product. We all can go on and on about some products. These little 12" x 12" x 12' box filters that claim to cover a 5,000 gallon pond, jst don't do that. I always tell anyone that talks to me they are way over rated. Same goes for some pumps on the market. So it's not that I think this Eazy isn't a good product. At this point I can't see where it's not going to have some problems with some ponds. Again I'm hoping so much I am wrong.

jeez thats pricey to run your pond. ever thought to try atleast make a self cleaning one if not buy one?
i mean one of those self cleaning rotating drum filters. i think i even saw a prototype of one on the internet a year ago but christ you could run one of them for that much dollars.
if you have to go away, as most do or would like to and not be a slave to the system, go automated but have it so if it stops- not everything dies.
i dont know how those vortex things work youve got, but basically i reckon if you set it up to drain it and then shoot water from inside the screen and outwards all the crap goes to the bottom and flushes out. then you fill it back up automatically as well.
wish i could draw what i mean.
you have a vortex with a sloping bottom, in the middle of that is a screen that fliters to about 200 micron. it feeds from withing that to your next one.
a timer controlls a gate that opens the water out to the drain, i assume you use an exchange of around that much. after the water is out you have a high pressure water pump to blast the screen clean and the crap falls out and washes out.
your drain locks off and your tank fills up with water again.

Tom

my biggest concern is blanketweed, more specifically, once in the chamber of static k1 it could be an arse to get it out and become a rolling ball of blanketweed and Kaldnes all knotted together.

However, i don't see that necessarily as a flaw with the Eazy, pretty much whatever solids removal solution i was utilising blanketweed would be a pain to clean off of it.

Time will tell.

Another video clip from yesterday of the first cleaning of the unit.

This past weekend I spoke with Carl Forss at length about filtration. (He owns Keirin Koi and deals in the EA line of products.) His experience has been that in locations where there is substantial leaf drop into a pond, the Nexus needs a vortex in front of it to capture the largest debris. Only then can blockage be avoided in situations where the koikeeper cannot engage in daily filter maintenace routines. The prersence of substantial algae may fall in the same category.

This is important to me, because I have to have a system capable of operating without human involvement for at least 7 days at a time, even if it operates at a lesser level than is otherwise achievable. I may be able to do daily settlement discharge, or on little or no notice I may be out of town for a week. The system has to be able to function on that basis or it is not right for me/my pond, no matter how good it may be in theory.

Thank you MikeM for saying that. I think everyone who has a pond should build in a similar requirement. I'm sure not everyone can be available everyday throughout the year for daily maintenance. What about week long or month long vacations to Japan to scope out the latest mud pond prospects? Everyone, at one time or another will be faced with not being available for 2-5 days and I think having a filter system to be able to keep up the water quality at acceptable levels is vital to the success of the designed pond systems. Does this mean larger and more capacity filtration? This may give overkill in filtration a new meaning...Aloha.

It's been a while since this was updated. Does anyone here have experience with the nexus eazy. I am seriously considering adding it to my pond.. I ran a water meter and my pond is only 4k so it seems like it would be a good thing.
