state of the art greenhouse. Lots of light, warm enough to melt snow, easy to vent hot air, no more flukes, blue heron, raccoon etc ( and i might find a way to fit a few bonsai in )to add some nice green to compliment all the blue in the pond!

Dick, by listening to you I have taking a liking to bonsai. and have checked out many of books. I think I'm in trouble... but really intersting nevertheless. its got me hook line and sinker...

Tones I forget to add Bonsai to my 50k .. Your choice Tone but after Dick reminded me of my bonsai addiction Udon or PHo can't afford talking packaged ramen now

Id give it to a japanese breeder to help them rebuild from the earthquake Ok, that was to much like a cheezy "miss america world peace" thing right.

So id probably spend $10,000 and take me and a friend back to japan to buy a few koi. Spend another $20,000 on about 10 koi. Then have those koi grown out in japan for the next 2 years (price of that included in the 20k). While the koi are being grown out, I make another $20,000 in upgrades to my existing pond. Which since I can be my own contractor, I can do for materials only.

Sound good ?

Well I figure I could do an excellent pond upgrade for a couple of thousand and the rest would be spent on a trip to Japan to buy fish.

I wouldn't be looking for tatagoi. I would be more interested in buying some "Good Fish" with a slight imperfection. Nothing major but something I could live with. I'm thinking in terms of $6,000 to $8,000 per fish.

I would also really love to have the best fish kept in Japan for a year or two to grow out in a mud pond. The idea of the fish getting better and larger until the day it arrives on my doorstep sounds fantastic!

I will buy 50,000 California Super lotto tickets (price was above 50M), and use the money I win to buy the plot next to mine house (4.5 ac, last asking price 4.8M), dig 4 to 5 big holes, conenct them with 2' deep stream. But some top top kois, put them in the upper hole, buy some more not so top top kois, put them in the second hole, buy even more great kois, put them in the 3rd hole. Buy a ton of water hynacin, and all the champions from all koi show this year in the USA, put them in the 4th hole. The 4th hole is my bio-filter. build a larger settling hole after the 4th hole, pump water up to the top hole, and flow down from the top all the water to the 4th by gavatiy.

OH, wait, my city won't allow my project, will they. So spend a few millions buying my way thru. Opps, I can't discharge into the local storm drain, can I, spend yet few more millions to get my way. Ohh, I need to protect the kois from buglars, spend few more millions on electrical fence, CCTV, and patrol. Hmmm, this koi place is kind of huge, I can't walk that much, build an automatic conveyor, can't expose conveyor to the weather, build enclosing for them. Wait, enclosing need to have a Japanese touch, OK, the whole lot whill be coverted to a perfect, super sized japanese tea house. For tea house, I need some fresh green tea, how about planting 200 top of grade green tea from Taiwan ?

DONE. I am the king of this hobby with $50,000

Nice to read what people would do with so extra cash, well being $50K thats more than enough. Dick and Keokoi, Bonsai I can accept with this thread, to each is his own...In the end each and everyone one of us plans to make their hobby that bit more enjoyable be it Bonsai or Nishikigoi...It's more of the time and sweat spent learning the in and outs of the hobby...

Oh yeah, Keokoi Ramen is just fine with me!!! Save the steaks and Keirin beer for a Momotaro BBQ!!!
