Wondering if mixed with a home made paste food if it will stick together without the jello content and sink as good as Izeki?

I too am worried about the waste part of tofu but I guess if it helps finish the koi why not gonna try some next week for the heck of it

It will bind together good but I would make sure to strain it completely before mixing to your paste food to remove and excess water.

Good Idea! Man that takes a long time too. I guess if you go firm and then straing it and put a weight on it over nite ot push the water out it will work best.

Gonna try this tomorrow..

Thanks

Madison,

Developing koi needs lots of calcium to build strong bone mass. Especially in our warm climate where koi grow very rapidly. Given good gene they usually reach 50cm-60cm in their 1st year of life. Tofu is a good source for the calcium they need.
I decided not to keep Shiro utsuri yet because of our scorching sun here though 80% of my pond is shaded. For Shiro to develop show quality shiroji I need to keep them in indoor pond away from the sun with a temperature between 18-20celsius. I do not have indoor floor space that can build a decent size pond.

The shiroji on my Gosanke is superb but I have to give majority credit to their genetics for without good gene any food given will tantamount to waste. Tofu just give my koi an added advantage. I will post a picture of my Gosanke later.

Healthy yes but to attribute health & grow to tofu alone is carrying it too far.
I don't have any before & after pictures. Try it yourself & see if your like the results after 3 months.

My koi accepted tofu at the 1st attempt. However, my Matsunosuke sanke need more encouragement. None of my koi spit out tofu even on the 1st attempt. In fact any new diet I introduce are accepted with open mind or should I said open mouth. They will find the new foods taste unusual but will not spit them out. Talking about good table manner.

I don't give tofu on a dailt basis. Its only twice a week.

chewed,

I do not have an issue with DOC after feeding tofu. Any waste is quickly pick up by the bottom drain, bio-filters and bakki.

swordfish,

good for you. My pond is "wrongly" designed with no bottom drain, so the fecces from the tofu is a headache. There is a active discussion in the Singapore section on the malaysian koi forum, join us.

cheers.

Tofu into koi diet.

Swordfish!
That must be a tategoi, to peaking at 50 - 60cm within first year.
Incredible! Simply fantastic!

Tell me what breeder's bloodline lives in your koi!
My koi in US, kept for over 5 years, yet to get close to 50cm.
What superb brood, with wonderrful skills in grooming !
Genes tell the whole story, almost! I would try! On tofu that is.
I am tempted to hurry off to Walmart Store now to grab some!
Interesting. How do you encourage your Matsunosuke to eat tofu? What incentives?
Can you enlighten on why a lot of feaces?

Indigestion? Gut cleansing?
I will do just that, twice a week supplement!

Thank you Swordfish. Madison, BK.
