Incredible! Simply fantastic!

Tell me what breeder's bloodline lives in your koi!
My koi in US, kept for over 5 years, yet to get close to 50cm.
What superb brood, with wonderrful skills in grooming !
Genes tell the whole story, almost! I would try! On tofu that is.
I am tempted to hurry off to Walmart Store now to grab some!
Interesting. How do you encourage your Matsunosuke to eat tofu? What incentives?
Can you enlighten on why a lot of feaces?

Indigestion? Gut cleansing?
I will do just that, twice a week supplement!

Thank you Swordfish. Madison, BK.

Madison,

Good grow doesn't neccessary mean its a tategoi.

We can feed our koi high protein and other nutritional foods all throughout the year with our warm climate over here.

Tofu is not a magical food. I use it only to supplement calcium for my koi.
Though tofu is easily digested I do not see a lot of faeces. Estimated about 10% or less of the overall tofu given is passed out. The soft type have 3X more calcium content than the hard counterpart.

A little honey coated on tofu is enough for my sanke to take the bite.

Currently I have 1 Dainichi showa,1 Sakai kohaku,1 Matsunosuke sanke,1 Momotaro kohaku bought more than a month ago,1 Chagoi and Hariwake of unknown breeder. The 1st 3 koi are out in my dealer's mud pond for 6 months. They'll be back in another 3 months times. The Momotaro kohaku will be out to the growth pond in another 2 months.

Didn't get a good pic. of my Momotaro kohaku without over-exposure due to bright sun as I have no time to bowl it. It is 9 months old and 45cm when I measure it last month before going to the Qtank.

Appreciate your effort, Swordfish!

To Swordfish:
Much as I had expected, my koi have little fancy over tofu.
Yes, I bought some soft version from grocery, for ease of segmenting.
I had them disintegrated to pellet size and sink a few bits in.
My koi just ignored and those chunk were sucked into the filter system.
I am planning on another strategy. Starve them for a next attempt.
You have an amazing piece of Kohaku! Beautiful!
What is that variety of grey koi, a Chagoi? Looks scarily hungry.
I totally agree that tofu has some role on shiroji of Kohaku, can witness now.
I think with a mouth that big like your koi, any goes through, goes down fine.
My choosy koi will sniff and stare at the tofu bits dropping into water but leave untouched.
Honey coating! Sounds like your Sanke has a sweet tooth!
Koi go on mud pond stays for better and quicker growth. How often you send them off?
Thank you Swordfish for taking time and making this extra effort to share your Kohaku.
A pleasurable sight indeed! Many good wishes. God bless. Madison, BK.

Babykoi have you tried dusting refresh with a little honey on the pieces? But i think starving them will get them to eat it....

Madison,

That is instead a sansai chagoi. It have been with me since I started out this hobby and took all the abuses from me. It is special to us.
My Momotaro kohaku is skinny cause it did not have any foods during the journey here and 2 weeks with very little feed in my qtank.
If you give straight from the packet they might not eat it. Try cooking it about 5 min. till it float on the surface. After the tofu have cool down try feeding them again.
4-6 months in the dealer mud pond and than back in my qtank than to my pond.
