| M4.9 quake jolts western Japan Friday, May 27, 2005 at 10:17 JST OSAKA — An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.9 jolted western Japan early Friday morning, the Japan Meteorological Agency said. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage from the 3:17 a.m. quake. The quake measured 3 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 in several places in Okayama, Hiroshima, Tokushima, Kagawa, Ehime and Kochi prefectures. (Kyodo News)
