M4.9 quake jolts western Japan

Friday, May 27, 2005 at 10:17 JST
OSAKA — An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.9 jolted western Japan early Friday morning, the Japan Meteorological Agency said. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage from the 3:17 a.m. quake.

The quake measured 3 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 in several places in Okayama, Hiroshima, Tokushima, Kagawa, Ehime and Kochi prefectures. (Kyodo News)

just to prove, it's an equal opportunity....quakes don't always pick on the breeders up north!

The whole Ring Of Fire seems to have been rattling extra hard over the last year or so. My wife was in Indonesia last week and they had two quakes while she was there. Mt. St. Helens made its contribution and Paricutin is building steam. However, the San Andreas has been a slackard.
