New season,...

Hi Jaco,

I haven't had an opportunity to take many stills this Spring season, here are a few though.

A bowl of 3 day old fry. My numbers this season have been wonderful,... there's no reality like Fall harvest though to determine how the season went,... and that's many months away.

Best Wishes,
Brady Brandwood

Sumi,...

This tosai Shiro Utsuri is a by-product of the line I label my "New Age Showa" - it's produced from All-American parents.

Notice the type, size, and placement of the sumi,... as well as the exact edging. My goal is to produce a more refined and sharp Showa. This pic shows the characteristics of the progressive sumi.

Best Wishes,
Brady Brandwood

I just had a battle with costia in my Japanese koi fry pond. Lost about 500 (out of 10,000). PP'd it. Watching them very close now. Not sure where the costia came from, but i'm guessing frogs. Fry are now 40 days old.

Saw my first Tobi. A chagoi. About a 1/4 inch bigger than the rest. I can't wait until these guys are another month older. The colors are really starting to come out.

Pec fins are slowly starting to turn downward as they swim and look more like real koi.

Making the grade,...

A 1 year old Kohaku that made it past my grading system to warrant some space to be grown for the Summer. It's 8" or 20 cm, which is good for this one - the patterning is more suitable for a Kohaku that finishes out as a 24" to 26" adult.

Best Wishes,
Brady Brandwood

Siblings,...

A pair of sibling tosai, from All-American parentage. Those who enjoy studying lineages and bloodline characteristics may be able to trace the path from Japan.

Best Wishes,

Great stuff guys i was lucky enough to go and see Maurice Cox and his koi farm on the weekend.Well what a set up it is you don't realize how big it is until you step in and see all the mud and fry ponds.

I have placed a couple of pictures for you and i am sure he will pop up soon as i know he has been so busy the weekend entertaining us .

Maurice once again thank you very much.

Brady,

I do like that Utsuri, very interesting. Glad you are keeping it and growing it on, be nice to see it later this year after a Summer of further growth.

Ha! Brady, you better start culling now or you'll not get any of them up to 8"!
