K1 also on my new pond

Base to what Mr. Kiky experiencing of K1, then I decided to use only K1 as my filter media. I put about 250 litre for about 1000 litre filter chamber or about 25% of the filter chamber volume. The K1 just perfectly moving upside down and I just filled kois to my new pond 3 days ago.

Beside K1, I added 5 trays of Bakki Showers.

I bought the K1 from Mr. Bohan Jauwan (Oriental Koi) for about Rp. 10 jt for 11 bags or buy 10 get one for free.

The Nitrification Process takes up a whole lot of oxygen to perform, if you want to optimize your filters performance, you must aerate it as much as you can. Without an oxygen rich enviroment, you filters perfomance will be stunted and will not be efficient, you also want the biological filter not to be dirty, because the bio will work on the solids before the chemicals such as ammonia; Nitrate; and Nitrite. You should add Calcium Carbonate or some other Water Hardening Substance, because this is like food to the biological matter in you filter, keep a good kh and gh in your pond this will allow the biofilter to develop correctly.

Kiky, thanks for the info.
Being the first one to use K1 in Indo, you certainly deserve K1 pioneer award

Monscine, Oriental Koi always be referred to me as the source for K1, I guess they are the only supplier and I just have to get it from them. I have tried to make some communication with BCN-009 (K9, a media like K1 with bigger surface area) supplier expecting for a cheaper solution. K9 cost cheaper but the shipment cost double than the media cost so at the end getting K1 locally is still cheaper.

Like you, my pond I currently build will rely only on K1 (static & moving bead) + TT filtration only. I'm confident that it will work good, easy to maintain, and take less space. Still try to figure out a few issues like:
- from static bead chamber, better to moving bead then TT then back to pond or better to TT then to moving bead then back to pond?
- minimum / ideal chamber depth for moving bead/K1? Due to some technicality, I will have chamber with total depth of only 40cm and another chamber with depth of 65cm. the 40cm depth chamber, i will try to experiment with bio-ball as the media (the smallest bio-ball available). i will also experiment with the chamber shape. instead of the typical vortex like shape, I will instead build a long-rectangular shape chamber like a narow canal (only 45cm width). on both side of the canal i will install a few series of 1m perforrated hose to supply the air to churn the media.
- I understand the media filled should be 2/3 of the chamber depth
- if we use moving bead filtration, does the 30% filtration rule still apply? or we use the new formula based on the number of litres of K1 media that we use

and still some more questions. hope I can get some feedbacks from everyone
