Kohaku and the Japanese terms for pattern.

Kohak: White koi with red markings. Probably the most common variety. The Hi should be deep red with well defined edges where it meets the white which should be pure and bright.

Japanese terms for style of pattern:

Tancho Kohaku: is a white koi with a red spot on its head.
Inazuma Kohaku: has a continous red marking from head to the tail, but with variation.
Nidan Kohaku: has two red markings.
Sadan Kohaku: has three red markings.
Yondan Kohaku: has four red markings.

I think you just take the number and add dan (marking) at the end...

I have no idea how to spell it correctly, but you know that character with the long nose that is usually draped over a fence emphasing the nose.

I have seen kohaku with that look of the long nose, and heard it identifed as
"skeetz-skay".

I just know in a fastly milling crowd of kohaku if you say nidan skeetz-skay, they know which one to net as opposed to pointing and just saying nidan (LOL)

Hi Dick,

Yeah, there's a famous Kohaku from Sakai Hiroshima from the Rose Bloodline named Tsuki Tsuke Rose. Your diction is right on the nose!
