What value would you put on this fish?

I came across this fish whilst browsing around last night, I emailed them straight away because I wanted to go and have a look at it but unfortunately it was sold.

What do you think it is worth?

Kohaku, 40cm, 2 years old, MALE, breeder Hirasawa

I'd give $300 for this perfect little Inazuma, no more, because it is a male. It is one I would enjoy in my pond all it's life. But since it would lose to the girls past size 5 or so it would not be a long term show fish. So not worth a big investment.

If I had to put a price on this male fish I would probably put a price of $275. My reasoning is that it is the end of the season and dealers are wheeling and dealing in summer to make room for October harvest. Also the fact that it is a male is why I put this price on this fish too. Hirasawa is a good breeder from Niigata and is comparable to Ogata in the South. I wish there was a better pic from above so I can see the comformation.

I absolutely love the pattern as it is but I see were you're coming from, its not going to look as hot when the fish grows.

Pitty it isn't 5 years old, 70cm+ and looked like that.

For what its worth they were asking £125 for it which is about $220. Barring any nasty surprises when I got there I reckon I would have given it a home for that price, not a huge sum of money to gamble.
