Drip plate

Hi all

I am making a home made bakki shower made out of bread baskets,

Not sure i know what to use a drip plate or a spray bar
the spray bar could clog, But if the drip plate clogs it would be easy
to clean and a more even shower also no less back presure on the pump.

Any views please.

How you gonna stop all that pressure from pump? Seems as though a lot of splashing would go on...

I can see why you want to use it as wet/dry filters on SW aqauriums use same technique. But SW tanks use a lot less pressure..

The Spray bar would be easy to clean. Just pressure fit the cap.. If not satisfied with that then have a 4" threaded/slip with a threaded plug. That way you can unscrew that reach in and clean...

I think what you got is a trickle tower drip plate.. Not bakki shower..

I thought you were talking bakki versus trickle which that plate is bingn used for..

Steve W:

If it's truly a bakki shower go with the spray bar... because of the high volume of water vs a TT...

I use a 2" pipe drilled every inch with 3/8" holes down the middle, then two lines of additional holes at 45 degree angles from the vertical...

Also drill 1 or 2, holes on the top of the bar to gauge the pressure in the pipe if there's too much pressure water will shoot up vertically from the holes, then either adjust pressure or increase hole sizes to 1/2" Start with every third hole until your satisfied with the results... BTW I pressure fit the spray bar and end cap and have never had it release in three years...

good advice Mike! I used TT's forever and That's probably why when the BS came out, I took to it. In My TT's I tried both methods of distributing the water
but settled on drip trays as less trouble. I liked the idea to use a threaded cap
in the pipe for access for cleaning in the DIY Bakki Spray bar. Might not ever have to use it but it's there!

Mike, Good points as DB has said.. Also you can take a Miter saw and cut slots in angles or what ever you please. Ive seen it done dunno ifit works better or as good as holes I suspect not. I would go with the holes.. The pressure thingy is cool...

But! in my SW Reef Aquarium days. If it possibly could happen.. It prolly is goiing to happen.. I like the insurance when the dealer has an ACE
