| One point to make first is to Daz, a couple of times you have referred to patterns as flowery. In both cases, neither are flowery, a flowery pattern is a pattern which contains for a wish for better wording a 'dotted' pattern containing many small areas of beni. This and the showa you referred to a while back is nowhere near flowery. No offence, just a pointer. Now to my feelings. Most of the sumi is on the beni, but a small amount is located on the shiroji and looks of excellent quality. The koi is showing good signs of being very well balanced when all the sumi comes up, there is well placed sumi towards the rear of the koi which could ‘make’ this koi in time. One of the main problems with sanke is tail heavy sumi and not enough at the front end, this koi is showing a nice balance. There are several points of the beni pattern which look a little weak and a better photo is needed to work-out if this could be a problem. The beni runs into the tail a little too much, but I’d live with it. The pattern is interesting and is of a modern style. As the koi gets larger, the koi will look wonderful. I’d like to see it a 90cm plus. Maurice. |
