Do the Japanese have koi forums ?

I would love to read a Japanese koi forum if there is one that could be translated. I wonder if there are koi geeks in Japan and what their discussions center around? What they feel about the rest of us shopping in their favorite water holes or does the industry protect their own people by price and out of the way holding tanks for the great tategoi?

I understand Nihonjin means "Japanese" in Japanese. Yes Brian lives in Japan, but is this forum translated and if so why is there no posts from Nihonjin members ? A quick search of members I see US, UK, Norway, Africa and so on. Were's the beaf? There must be, strike that, What forum do the Koi farmers watch in all their spare time while smoking, drinking and looking at Maiko sitting in their ponds? How about the Nihonjin chronics like me and Mac , what forum do they watch?

I think if you go to Niigata.. You will understand that Koi Breeders dont have the relaxed time of a 9 to 5 Job.. Its pretty much 24 hour koi.. Work all day rest and wake up and work again... Dedicated to the hobby and way of life they love.

Also not all Breeders have internet access... If not doing koi.. They are fighting bulls, Drinking, smoking or helping out other breeders...

Thanks Joe, can't imagine the devotion. Sounds very exciting. Maybe I will keep going West if I can't find any babes in Cal. That bonsai has a very nice style. This looks like a John Naka design. He was big on the driftwood windswept look.

I remember a few years back before KB on another board a japanese named naoki who would visit that board. He was hastled so much that he quit posting.
He was strongly opinioned and many of the words as he got technical would not translate easily so it was frustrating on both ends. I have often wondered why I have never run across a japanese on any of the other boards. I wish it weren't that way. For me I wish we could get brian to give us access some chat night or just put in questions to some of his writers about the articles they wrote. I sure know I'd like to talk to the gentleman who wrote the asagi articles.

Gary, this is not driftwood style. The Shari you see exposed in pic is part of the tree This is a California Juniper. Known for natural Shari and Jin. Its the real deal not the driftwood style you say..

Joe, did you run today?LOL Driftwood style does not imply fake or phoenix from what I understand. It is a style that has a great deal of shari compared to live bark exposed. Phoenix graft is a piece of dead aged wood with a living sapling attached to it. This fake replica can not be entered in any exibit hall and is frowned upon. I would never imply someones tree was a phoenix Joe, even with my big mouth.
