$195/10kg?
well i did not know it was so cheap....give me 10 bucks worth........half a kg..

Now having said the price made it impractical, unless you are driving a benz or better, I did not know it was that expensive.....
I need about 50 cu.ft. is there a big discount for buying a pallet...or two....?

That is exactly how I started greg and linux. One box at a time. I started with k1 and lava rock. You can get the specific dimensions from the yume or Momotaro websites in cm. I think alot of people do it that way.

You can also use plastic veggie or milk crates, they will work better than plastic tubs and are very cheap. If you decied to go the stainless steel route, I recommend you contact carl from Keirin, he can help you with that process.

Just for the record JR, I have no problem with k1, it is an excellent product. My point was simply that all the negativity towards Momotaro is out of place. I also agree with your comment about them just coming into their own and their best still yet to come. I also like the way Jimbei, Yamamatsu, Genjiro, and Hansuke are set up, and feel Dianichi is going to have another turn in the sun too. Just a few of personal favorites.

Luke why don't you start with k1 and lava rock?

I also really recommend you to call Keirin. He has had to deal with filtering lots of water at low cost and can probably really help you. He is one the nicest guys in the industry and he won't be offended if you dont buy bh, he will still help you! He also might cut you deal on a skid of it!

Ive got 5 Cubic feet of K1. So my budget for purchasing media is already gone. Ive got bigger expenditures on my plate right now (like building a japanese style koihouse for overwintering my new imported koi). Having BH media wont do me any good if my koi are koisicles.

In order to convince someone to purchase BH instead of LR, there has to be some quantifyable & reproducable data to support why one is better than the other.

I thought that SMG has done that kind of comparison? What did her results prove?

My showers are still working very well, no attention since their origin.

Maurice.
PS, I've run trickle towers for many years, Bakki Showers work better. The algae type and growth is different.
I'm out of arguments, it's up to others to find their own conclusions.

Bakki showers

I swaped my filter system of a bbf 2 and screen for a shower and now have 2 x showers fed from one bottom drain, I do live in a hard water area and due to being on a water meter I do not use ro water.

I have been keeping koi for four years and my pond is only 2500 gals, but the improvement and growth rate of my fish since going to showers has been fantastic. I have 15 koi some of them I have been told to enter the national,by the guy who won baby champion. He told me he was glad i did not enter last year.

He was a disbeliver about the bakki shower system, has seen mine running and can't belive how well they run with no settelment.

The tds level in my main pond is lower than my q-system which has 5 small koi and is run by a nexus 200 with a easy.

They do work, how they do it i don't care, all i know is that my fish are in better shape, have more zip and are in better conditon than before.

Like i have been told time and time again the koi will tell you if they are not happy with the water.

I love my Bakki Shower..2 years...no maintenance, water pristine.

I have received lots of great reports from confidences who have been

involved with the new k-3 and discs prior to their introduction. When k-1 came out, I switched everything over and ran it for over a year so i would have the knowledge to talk confidently in my seminars. Good product!

I can tell you from 3 decades of involvement beginning with pea gravel, I'll take today's modern approach even if it is more costly.

after all is said and done for myself, I like having several different filtering systems on one pond. Over the years I've developed a sense of "not all my eggs in one basket". That's why i like the bakki along with either k-1 or japanese blue mat.
