No Change

I see things haven't changed at all with William. I had pump warranty issues with W. Lim Co 2 years ago. Many phone calls later the Co finally agreed to replacements.

I haven't bought anything from him since. When they decided to go into the retail business, I decided I didn't have the time to teach W.Lim how to service their customers.

I have at least thirty of W. Lim pumps in service most of them on my own ponds. Yes, I know I don't let my wife see the electric bill. Out of the 21 at my home most of them leak in one form or another. It has been driving me nuts trying to chase down the leaks most of them draw air in through the lid. Unless I use copious amounts of Vaseline on the O rings they will draw air. I have talked to Bill Lim about this and he has denied any problems. I guess it is time for a new supplier on the big new pond. The problem is what to do with the pumps I already have. Two of the pumps are just under a year in use and I can hear the bearings are starting to go. I just hate getting ripped off and I am not up for a fight with him trying to get him to do something about it.

PS I like the man he is a consummate sales man. I just wish his customer service was better.

lim pumps

I've had Williams pumps for years-so far so good. Frank I know has had isssues-like the ones he talked about here. His pumps are efficient-now if he would do the support thing I bet he would be a big player.

everyone's got flaws and perfections..lim feels like he's right ALL the time. he has a hard time remembering when he's been wrong.... probably is a learned process. It is very frustrating to try and engage him in a discussion inwhich you want him to be acceptable to another point of veiw. Immediately the guy goes into, "here is what I think."
he has successfully built some low-head, low rpm, medium volume, swimming pool pumps...I wonder what would happen if he took a concept from someone else and built a fractional horsepower propeller pump. I asked him if he had tried to do that at Koi America...you can guess the answer.
he's got the resources and the mental capacity, but he won't entertain the concept.
Such is life. We both lose.

Tom C,
Yeah nothing's wrong with the pump. You need to change your O-ring of the lid.

The O-ring has been changed out three times on this pump. The lid has also been changed out by Lim when we had it at the shop. Still sucks in air.

Tom,

Remove the lid and examine the top of the pump body, particularly the edge of the pump body. Run your finger around and feed for irregular surface.

Take a flat file and smooth out the ridge at the top of the pump body until it is absolutely flat. This will allow the cover to sit flat and lower down, thus pressing the o-ring harder against the pump body.

Tom C,
I had exactly the same problem as yours before. After I replaced the new lid and O-Ring, the problem just went away.
