Spokane Show Results!

Sharon and Dan Olson cleaned up again winning GC with the same fish which took GC in Portland a few weeks ago.

They also won Mature Champion, and best in size 5 and 6.

(Guess the rest of us can go home now!!)

Leo Marsh and Virginia Hokkanen won Reserve Champ with their amazing Shiro Utsuri.

Congratulations to the Olsons and other winners. Will we be seeing any more pictures from the show, the Shiro Utsuri perhaps?

It's late sunday night, and i'm wearry but wanted to fill in some thoughts info from the show. Flight there and back uneventful. Weather sunny and beautiful.
About a hundred koi and just under 50 goldfish entered.

The judges did an excellent job. nicole and Art L (great husband and wife team from maryland) along with Lester B from florida gave alot of themselves. Poor lester was caught up in the storm and flight cancelled but he got out and took a
cracy hopskotch route to get here in time to judge. I can't tell you what an over and above effort it was. Gets into town, no luggage, big smile on his face. What a priviledge to have this guy at your show.

beautiful sanke and showa of the olson's. They had it a bit easier this year as the anderson's ( worked hard but didn't enter) and Blackburns ( most of the couples who challenge them) didn't show this year .
God help the challengers in the future tho....25,ooo gallon pond under construction, 40 feet long
it's gonna be incredible. They're off to visit toshio this fall for a special fish so katey bar the door!Have a feeling they should have been challenged better this year as it may not get any easier.
This was my third year of benching this show and i must say it was obvious that the club members have learned how to care and transport the koi . The banquet was gormet and I learned a few tricks on how to treat vendors.

After the show the judges and officers got together for a critique breakfast to improve next year on. Was super smitten with the idea of having a "B" grand champion. If you weren't into gosanke and figured why bring a very special non go sanke for maybe a friendship award, if you had a chance to win a "b"
GC it might entice some who have gotten away from showing.

Joe, I got to do my impromptu koi lessons during benching and then when I was thru went over to bonsai club there and was able to work their booth for new members with demos on nursery stock pines. very gracious club to allow me to participate.

Attendance was down this year, don't know why. Shame too as lots of great vendors there in support with booths. Really enjoyed visiting with tom from champion nishigikoi in san jose and the hikari rep.

Well here in the Pacific NW, Seattle in next and last...will look forward to working with our own Chris C from this board.

out of gas folks.....saw that KB came in the mail but will have to set down tommorrow with it. Looked fan-tast-tik!

Dick,

Thanks for taking the time to give us a detailed report - especially from such a worn out guy. Worn out, but happy. I could tell. I wish these west coast shows weren't so far from Kentucky.

Kudo's to your judge that was obviously determined to get there! You are lucky to have had him.

Congratulations to the winners.

Baby Champion was won by P.J. Mahoney with a very nice 7.5 inch ginrin kohaku from Sakai. He also won Young Champion with a beautiful 15 inch Sakai Jumbo kohaku.

Nice, I really like both Kohaks. They have standard pattern but are very clean deep beni. Congrats again...
