Not sure Luke. The wood dust might work but from what I understand at a certain thickness these combinations of very finely ground powdered oxides exposed to 1080 degrees F will be porous as they burn. The manufacture makes these in balls, spheres, rods and sticks. In the finer layered products, they come out like glass - smooth.

I'm going to try a test where water is 'treated' with a large amount of BH for 20 hours. This should, in FIR theory, reduce water clusters from 12-15 down to 5-8 which is also the water that makes organics dissappear. In theory, the small cluster water will boil much faster than 'normal' cluster water. I will do this side by side on same size burners and then independently using a stop watch to determine any differences.

Have you checked the price of Stainless in the US lately? The price of steel, and stainless has about tripled in the past couple years. Rusting isn't the issue, stainless is awesome, I use it all the time, I love it.

Fiberglass on the other hand is much easier to work with, and once a mold is made, you can pop Bins off left and right, but I couldn't make them for no where near $125 delivered as Mike T stated, but definatley less than retail on a set of Momo bins.

Stainless comes with milky white hue on it and gets worse as it ages, unless you start with a highly polished surface, and keep it polished. And of course with water splashing all over it, and fish crap, they will never stay pretty.

Stainless comes in grades, some of which will rust, You get what you pay for. Other material to consider- fiberglass, poly materials and even plywood coated with CIM ( white or black)

Momotaro's new units look to be of a better grade when compared to his original units. These are on the big pond and probably 5 or 6 years old?

The first one i saw in action was at CWK and it was rusting

It would be hard to find out what grade stainless they are made from, but for the normal person to go into a machine shop and ask for something to be made out of stainless, 9 times out of ten you'll get 304, 304 is a ok grade, but 316L is much better. Another issue that can and will cause rusting in stainless, is the tooling used to brake/bend/work the stainless, it will scratch the surface and leave minute traces of steel in the pores of the stainless, and it will then start to rust, but it is only superficial. Basically any time you touch a piece of stainless with steel (working with it), it will start to rust there.
