Anyone that thinks livestyles are equal probably has never traveled in europe. Most of our problems have easy solutions, new Nuclear facilities are much cleaner and cost effective. Gas Refineraries take years to build b/c all the environmental steps they have to go through (12-yr is average I think), I'm sure there is a way to streamline the process or relax regulations. Who cares if we run out 50 or 60 years from now, there are other effective methods that will be in place well before then.
Thats cobblers I'm afraid. I live in the Uk and my car does 15 mpg and that gallon costs me over $8. Insurance costs me well over $200 a month and road tax around $30 a month. I work regularly in America and like for like jobs are paid less over here than over there. Your cost of living is tiny compared to ours too. To give you some idea, I get Levi jeans from Wal-mart for less than $20 and the same ones cost $100 dollars here. You guys dont know how lucky you are.

The only good thing is I can wipe the floor with any of those big slow cars you have over there

If the american cant build electric cars and trucks to get us from point A to B then it would not bother me if we used a horse and buggy, as we are to spoiled anyway and most people dont take global warming to heart. I guess when we are out of goverment money trying to fix problems after problems then the people will realize somethings have to change. Life is to fast paced and the good lord is going to slow us down, its that simple. Look at what he has done, its a wake up call for us. If this is not a sign then what is? Mardi Gras, now is that a good thing? How much junk do you see going on when you visit that place. First time I went said I would not go back as the place is so nasty and bad people, to many at that. We got lost and found a hotel and a man tried to stop us and we did not stop, when we got inside the hotel the lady told us that if he jumped out in front of us to run over him and to never stop, that their are to many mean and drug crazed people their. You tell me what you think, sounds like somthing straight out of the Bible to me.

Here is what I heard on the grapevine-Bush has told the oil companies not to take advantage and they ignored him thinking to prove themselves more powerful than anyone- so here is the plan--every company will be investigated and when the numbers show they have been fudging on the numbers for years, lots of folks will go from castles to prisons, and they will wag their tails like dogs as they do-----live like a dog die like one is the motto

the powers that be hope we will all realize there are better ways to power our travel and decide to put our money there. Natural gas Hondas are already available.

Here is the other part of the deal you may not know up there, Chavez, president not elected of Venezuela, is forming a latin american coalition against the US and he controls the oil delivery infrastrcuture we need and depend on. He want sto hurt the US and Bush however he can. He kills whoever opposes him and talks bad about him, and thinks his people like him. They are too scared to tell him they want him dead. Once he is gone, and he needs to be soon, prices will come down some.

The governor of Pr thinks he will join us with them one day as cuba has. It is a socialist delusion and dream mostly rooted in hatred for the US. Here is what Americans can do, let Bush and their congressmen and senators know it is ok with you if chavez disappears. One reason he is still here is that americans wouod not look nicely on his disappearance and Bush could be characterized as a Hitler. Truth, Chavez is almost identical to Hitler, is a news reporter makes a joke about him, they die that day.

You want lower gas prices??? Stop whining about your pres and give him your support to deal fully with chavez and put aside partisan politics long enough for him to do it. Otherwise chavez will have you paying him $80 a gallon. By the way, he is using the money for buying weapons on the black market from russia to use on americans, whom he states in public speaches are responsible for the whole world's suffering due to your 'evil capitalist ways'.

By the way, I hae traveled to many countries, and americans are not the most wasteful people on earth. Columbians, Spaniards, Puerto Ricans and the French make you look like frugal worry warts.

For the rest of this hemishpere's sake, I hope you get rid of chavez, get oil prices reasonable, and release vehicles with alternative sources of power. We sure can't do it down here, we can't even get the governor to release sensible press comments here.

This is what he is doing, taxing everyone, raising prices on everything, doubling power and water in one month, taxing truckers for 'heavy road damage', stealing the money the US sends to fix the roads (he has been doing that for decades), then raising prices on EVERYTHING when the truckers strike in protest. He is a dictator like chavez, please remove him, he stole the election and we all know it, why aren't you guys helping us? I can sort of relate to how the hurricane victims feel. If you call the utilities commission here, noone ever answers and noone returns messages, in other words, they do not exist for all intensive purposes. I have friends who run only a window AC at night who get $350/mo power bills.

By the way, the vast majority of us here want to be a state, we are being misrepresented intentionally by the few with money and power to pull it off. Force us to take a vote for either statehood or independence and have the US government look over the election for fraud and see. Take the middle option to stay a territory off the table. Please. We need to be rescued form the socialists who want to take over.

Thats a big hike in price. I was in NC about 3 weeks back and they were unhappy because gas had reached $2.10 a gallon.

You'll need to get to 60 mph quicker than 4.2 seconds and IF you can, you'll then need to be able to go around corners as quick as a four wheel drive rally car with as much chassis technology as any other car on the road. Oh and I can come to a standstill from 60 mph in 2.5 seconds too should the need arise

i pay 128.9 cents a liter in australia.
today i learned there is a biodeisel plant nearby and i can buy it for a fair whack cheaper then petroleum based diesel.
funny when you think that in the old days when the diesel engine was produced it was sposed to run on the more environmentally friendly plant based oils. then the oil companies basically came in with a cheaper source.
lobbied the government to stop making the farmers rich by encouraging farm oils. like let us in we are cheaper!
now the oil situation has gotten ridiculous. everyhting is dependant on it.
most families i know spend about 5% of their money on fuel.
so its a huge money spinner. oh and it helps wreck the earth too.
how many cylinders go bang bang all day long creating heat and greenhouse emissions... carbon monoxides!!!! basically death.
like where do we think all this stuff goes in the end once we vent it out of our car parks and tunnels so we dont die.

i know a guy that uses biodiesel in his excavators and the workers note how much nicer the tail pipes smell than the petroleum based poisons.

now we have a situation where it is cheaper for even much smaller biodesel plants to produce fuel. a full reverse on the original plentiful and cheap ground oils.
so not only is it cheaper but its better for the environment to grow crops and use it to fuel our cars.
what the hell is wrong with us.

The gas and manys other things is all relative to where you live. Even in the U.S. we have different prices and or cost of living..

I know over here in Silicon Valley.. a 45 minute commute is short.. When some people will commute 2 hours out of the way driving those SUV's...

Luckily the DW commutes 2 miles away.. and I have a home office. No gas issues here..

We have looked into Bio Diesel and Hybrid cars as well...
