Dick and aquitori, go careful what you say, I've been ridiculed by JR for stating things I have witnessed running this overpriced media in my showers.

I'm going to have a go at making my own, I have a recipe of 1 part self rasing flour, 1 part plaster of paris and handful ricepops. This will be placed in the oven at gas mark 3 for 20 minutes.

I shall not be marketing this product, it's just for my own use. At worst, it'll make a change from sandwiches for lunch.

Maurice.

Yes, it's funny when some think Momotaro are only good at growing koi, not breeding them!

The number of breeders at Momotaro auctions! I wonder what they are doing there?

True, I think they under stand a good thing....I would rank Sakai Hiroshima and Momotaro way over Toshio Sakai any day.

hey aquitori

I might just jump in for mike to help answer your last two questions.

Firstly i assume you are talking about 2000 US gallons which is around 7600L. I would say with sensible stocking rate 50 to 60kg is more than enough with a slight overkill. My 30 ,000L has 170kg of BH some old some new. The newer BH has more surface area for the same weight, by how much no one can really say. Are you using it as the sole filtration? If you use a skimmer as well pump that overe the shower as well.

I dont believe the three participants are feeding exclusively momotaro from the first article i remember one mixes momotaro and one uses fully momotaro and one doesn use momotaro food. I dont know the current situation now.

My guess is that most of the koi were momotaro and thus they could compare with the others from the same parents to relative growth rates.

never had hard number just knew I couldn't afford it....
50,000 gallons means 1000kg of BM
20 bucks a kilo = $ 20,000 (does that include shipping?)

Maurice will you post some pics of your home made BM, and keep us updated.
