Talking

1. When you go on an extended trip to Japan (to look for more koi) and your co-worker left in charge of your business takes a side trip to your house/pond with his fishing buddy AND their poles AND their lawn chairs AND their coolers full of beer.....documents the trip with sequenced pictures and presents them to you when you return and you ask him "how were things while I was gone?" AND you actually fall for it (cause you didn't even realize he knew where you home was) and you get super defensive about what damage they might have done to your koi and what was put into your pond!!
2. When the local veterinarians are asking for a wet lab and information on how to treat fish
3. When you throw a tantrum with the neighbor's because their dog was digging under your rosebush...and it's not the rosebush you are worried about, but the deceased koi which you wanted to have a 'peaceful resting place' forever.
4. When your friends invite you to their vacation home on the beach in Belize for a week free of charge.......and you tell them you are going to KOI AMERICA instead. (and you are not showing and not a vendor)
You just spent the amount of money for a koi that you thought was absurd a year ago.

You find yourself in your jammies (or less) holding a flashlight in the backyard at 2 am.
Oh, no, it's me! Akinosan, Luke must be spying on me with satellite GPS stuff or something...."If I pull the jacket down far enough no one can tell I don't have on any pants, right?"

You know you are koi kichi when you've kept dead koi in your freezer to dissect after you've had enough time to properly mourn their passing.

- when you hear PP and think purple, not yellow.

-when your spouse tells you the main character in the movie "The 40-year Old Virgin" is a koi-keeper and you believe him!

When driving around the Japanese countryside and encountering a greenhouse with no obvious signs of plant life, you scan around for kerosene tanks, transportation vats, nets, waders, and any other of the tell-tale signs of koi life!

ok, my husband carry's in his wallet pictures of his GC, none of me, none of our daughter, he does have one of our Grandson, trying to catch fish with his 74cm net in hand, and since he is only 2 1/2.. He can show off his koikichi grandson..

My husband sits down everynight with our grandson to read him a story, he has read him all the articles in all koi magazines, books etc..

For our grandsons tv time, he gets to watch every koi video ever known to man...
oh and for toppers the koi ID poster, my grandson can name 70% of them at age 2 1/2 that is better than alot of hobbiest.

all of our vehicles license plates say koicrzy, koikrzy, koicrze, koikrze

When it's between 1 and 3 am and you're running around your backyard in boxer shorts with your 1,000,000 candle power light trying to catch cane toads (singers) before they lay eggs in your pond...
