Some of those two-year-old sanke look like kohaku with shimmies. What's with that?

Always looks different in person.. Last spring I looked at the pics online. When I got to the greenhouse it was a different ball game. The koi I thought looked bad were actually some of the better ones.

The prices are good for the quality you are getting.. Its a dealer auction only so I will leave it at that. Many dealers buy for private hobbyists. Like I said, I am gonna miss this one and am actually sad about it. Mr. Maeda certainly puts on a class auction...

About the only thing I won't miss is that 100% umidity in the greenhouse..

Who would guess

I'm surprised that so many experienced koi observers differ on their choices. I'm also surprised that I agree with someone. i usually choose koi based on their pattern--one that has a picture of Elvis usually gets my attention. However, today:

Kohaku #23 looks like the "Mask". I'd like to see this Kohaku at 30'' plus.
