What type of rock or block is best?

What kinda rock or stone is best to use around your pond. Many of us are true koi ponds.. So what did you use to boarder yoru pond so fish do not hurt themsleves.?

I have used a Tehema river boulder flat on bottom flat on top Heavy as heck and expensive.

I think it depends on three things-

1-Your natural surroundings

2-The theme you are trying to create and the atmosphere you want

3-How much money have you got to accomplish those goals?

We did a stamped concrete for the cap on our pond. This was done because of the smooth edges it left on the inside of the pond. Not to many chances of the koi damaging themselves with it.

Funny you should bring this up today. After almost a year I have my faithful employee (shown in the picture) finishing the rock work around my pond. I am using real imitation rock. Hopefully have it all grouted tomorrow, and done finally. Then we can conquer the landscaping part.
