Way to much money if you ask me. 99% chance that koi will not look anything like that next year.

That is truly a beautiful koi, but the price that it has been bid up to is outrageous! Dont get me wrong, Any koi is worth what one is willing to
pay for it.
Kudo's to nishikigoi.com. WOW!

Hey Dub, the person who owns that also owns the doitsu goshiki in the new Koi USA magazine. If you think that's nice, you should see the rest of the collection!

I was thinking the same thing... the colors on that koi really seem to "pop" but to my untrained eye it didn't look like anything that spectacular to warrant that price tag.

Keifer, you're the "tancho king" so maybe you can shed some light on this for me... I thought tanchos were supposed to have a nice, symmetric, preferrably circular spot. That one looks kind of lopsided and sloppy to me... not what I'd consider desirable. Am I completely missing something here? (very likely)

Clearly this is a very unique koi with outstanding skin, kiwa and depth of color.
I think that tancho is a bit of a stretch but technically correct. I will certainly be envious of whoever ends up with it. It is defintely one for the books!

Pond is currently at 0.04 % salinity....

That little guy is a new addition to our freshwater aquarium as of last night. It is a "Chinese Hi-Fin Banded Shark." Back when Mike and I were still dating we used to sit around and look at Takashi Amano's book, "Nature Aquarium World," and noticed some of these fish in a few of his aquascapes. I've always thought they were really neat.

When Mike brought him home my first thought was that he looked like a Shiro utsuri with a mutant dorsal fin.....because I am koi kichi and have mental problems.

Naw, I dismantled my saltwater tank back in 1999...unlovingly referred to as the "Aquarium of Death".

I told Mike I was perfectly happy with my two blue Damselfish, Buster and Floyd, but he took them back to the pet store because they are just "system starter fish." After killing off 1/2 of the saltwater species known to man, I decided that maybe I needed to do my part for ocean conservation and quit.

Jen, that is why you have to go tank raised Sw fish.. Damsel fish .. Mike was right for taking them back.. I bet year plants look really good and your flowers are really colorful.. LOL Bloodline plants...

I had an 8 year Percula Clown resident in my 200g reef tank. After it passed I broke it down and sold the tank.. My hardwood floors still give me memories of my reef tank..
