Hi steve

I personally believe a pond should be rectangular in shape long and narrow, the longer the better as this will give the koi a good long swim width not so important but obviously not too narrow.

Let see, that would be 4984 Imp. gallons or 22.4 ton system. Mr. Meada says it's best to match koi to your pond. For those with small ponds he recommends keeping males. You really need a pond of 100 tons to keep jumbo females. Also due to the depth to surface ratio, sufficient aeration will be important. What if you designed it to be rounder rather than four cornered to cut back on dead swim space? Good luck

here's the formula you might want to consider to be closer to a better shape

depth x2 to equal width. width times 2 to equal length.

the couple that won the spokane show has a pond that's 40 feet long, so that their 30 inchers will keep growing instead of making one tail flick and having to brake.

10 feet may be all the length you have but did you ever consider a sloped bottom in a horse shoe shape? That would give you a better length.....

Tight quarters, but you have to work with what you have. My only suggestion would be to round the corners. Square corners are more likely to accumulate debris.
