I see the classic shape just like 82cm-32in Mom "Popeye" with excellent shiroji. Very nice at 4 years. That showa was held at farm for development as tosai befoe it was sold as sansai? Thanks for pics.

I will be glad to look but will not expect any looks back Keo.

Hi Jay

Thanks for the pics.

Itīs a great showa, nice body, great pattern and very nice moto guro. The head looks a bit yellowish on the picture, is this the pic or the real thing, and if so, will it go away in time?

I think the koi has the potential to get a clearder head, but not completely white. But more darker white if you understand what I mean.
We took this pic in Japan when she was sansai.
I believe she is about 70cm now but with stronger sumi.

Jay, when selecting a SFF nisai kohaku, would you say that a slightly yellow color on the head would turn white later on, or would this be a no no and would you only select a koi with a really white head already?

Normally I always pick the ones with clear heads, but some bloodlines are able to clean up the head when getting older.
Again it depends on the bloodline and the koikeeping.

I think it will go away in time, the fish is still young. Under careful keeping skills the fish will improve. The Keito stock that Sakai Hiroshima uses for Showa tells us it will improve...Anyways, like the saying goes...A fish is only as great as the hobbyist who keeps it.
