Sturgeon in ponds

I see from time to time sturgeon's in koi ponds in the UK. How come we don't see them in the US ponds, are they protected by law?

Joe how well do sturgeon's and koi do together? I went online looking for them. The only place I could find them for sale is the UK.

Just curious, Tom, but what on earth piqued your interest in having a sturgeon in you pond - Brian's fishing picture?

Well it's a few things. I have seen these monsters posted by other people and I thought "WOW" that are different. The other thing is this longfin post. Hell if I'm going to add something other than a koi to the pond, why not a sturgeon over a longfin.

I had a baby Siberian Sturgeon for a while, I bought it at my local pet shop after seeing a fellow post pics of his eatting out of his hand in his pond.

They are supposed to be hard to keep as a baby, but when they are adults they are very hardy. Mine didn't make it, and I just haven't thought about getting another. The albino's are supposed to stay small, under 1 meter I think. They also need tons of O2 more than Koi.

Here's a web site with info on them if you haven't found it yet : http://www.sturgeon-web.co.uk/ I searched high and low but this place was the only place I could find with anything on them.

I'd put one of these in my pond before I'd put a longfin

Would be handy for scaring the crap out of guests....."Hey, I TOLD your kid to quit throwing rocks in my pond, now look what he woke up. Better get his little butt back in the house before he gets eaten."
