Hurricane Rita

Hoping our members around Hurricane Rita are alright. I think Brett and a few other live in Danbury which is pretty close to Galveston, TX. Hope all is well.

Jsut found out from My brother in friendswood which is not far from you that some nasty weather is on the way..

Best Wishes....

Joe

They are doing mandatory evacuations tomorrow. Have talked to several folks who have battened down the hatches and are being forced to leave their homes. I guess after Katrina the govt officials are super paranoid.

My house nearly boarded up, looks like a mandatory evacuation will be in place by tomorrow evening for the areas around the koi farm and my home.

Last time I saw folks this riled and paranoid was when they evacced for Gilbert, that went to Mexico. You can't get a piece of plywood, a bottle of water or a generator to save your life.

Ought to know how it turns out by Sunday.

Hopefully Bush doesn't drop the ball again on you guys. I think this is why things might have gotten screwed up after Katrina :

You know Bush has been busy in helping out Iraqi people, building road, oil pipe, or other stuff in Iraq. So, have to forgive him if he does not have time for Rita or Katrina ............................................

Most Texans are fairly self suffecient. We don;t need the federal government in order to take care of ourselves as we have done for generations. Its those that have depended on the federal government for everything for generations that had problems when the government couldn;t take care of them during the storm.

I figure I can blame a lot of things on President Bush, weak in Iraq, weak at home, but not the weather.

I';m roundiung up what fish I can before we have to leave. One helper is in Galveston, I'm on my way to Friendswood. We'll put what we can into mud ponds, pick up any loose stuff around the farm, and leave.

One mess up I made. Disconnect electric pumps. When power is restored, pumps came on auto. Some lost prime, some were disconnected from wells for gas pump hook-ups. Good luck! Must be hard to leave to your pals behind in your situation.
