Bern-

Major traits of a Unit member are enthusaism and humor. The unit is recognizable by the volume and quantity of laughing, using the gut, even in print. Membership may be only by conscription, dunno. Must kick butt. Cigars may be involved.

Bern: It is a California thing. We have learned to accept these California-isms in the States.... it can be a challenging test of cultural tolerance. [At first the reference to "unit" created a military image in my mind, but after a little time, I came to see it more as ninja turtles, but I'd suppose that is a reference with which you are unfamiliar in U.K. ]

I'm not part of the koi-unit, but from what I have seen of them, they are a great group of hobbyest that are always willing to help others. I think with these guys, and now gals it about learning, teaching, and having fun. They all seem to be what I would call Koi Kichi.

Is a club started in Norcal by people who appreciate Nishikigoi. We are the "Secret Chopstix Society", dont want to mention who gave us that racist name but someone did.
WHO - is involved in Koi Unit?
Is Aquitori, Keokoi, Akinosan, Shir, Erwinsan, BNKoi, Showanut, Mulberryjen, NancyM, Dunkel..The local dealers are our support group not to mention others.

HOW - does one get involved?
We are pretty much a local group of hobbyist who have different backgrounds in the hobby, but in the end it's about Nishikigoi. To get involved is to hangout, talk Nishikigoi and have fun learning...To be Koi-Unit, there has to be a 100% agreement vote by all stated to be a chapter to the Koi-Unit.
WHY - are there no Brits?
HHHMM, dunno never had a Brit hangout with us and talk Nishikigoi. The Only Brit I met in person was Mike Snedan...cool cat...

It is terrific when we can all smile. This is a great way of keeping in touch and just sharing friendships old and new.
