I would ahve picked the first one anyway as Marudo has the softer beni as opposed to the red Hi.

My dealer in the UK has a very fine example of a Marudo Kohaku in his personal collection and we had a Koi appreciation day there earlier in the year and this was one of the Koi he bowled and talked about.

PLUS - If you hold you cursor over the pictures you have attached it says which one is which. "Older Marudo Kohaku" and "Auction Kohaku" OOPS!!!! .

So honest, I would have picked number two cause of Dainichi Boodline influence, bright whites and deep red hi rather than the brick hi on number one. Oh well.

What if koi #2 is a finished male and the other is a female, would that make a difference? Heck this is a hard un.

I have several kohaku bred in the usa from marudo parents. This is one of them. I will pick koi one for this reason. The hi is definitely softer.
