Since there is alot of stuff goin on with W.Lim I wanted to know if there was anyone besides W.Lim who makes a "Japanese Style" Koi bowl that is deeper than the Lim's? PM me if you know anyone....

I gotta say the Lim bowls are convenient to have the retailers carry. But the Japanese Bowls are really nice and I like the tint blue a bit better for Photos. Not to mention deeper to keep that fish from Jumping and losing scales
Tone, if you want one you can carry one back from Niigata but might get some strange looks on the train..

Hydra has a great selection of viewing bowls that are quite similar to the japanese ones

Wink

Uhhh...are we talking about hundreds of dollars for a blue bowl? I went to a discount store (christmas tree shop...they are a chain) and they had blue plastic bowls for around $5. I used them in a MAKC show...won 6 medals...and not one person knew the difference. I suddenly feel very smart today. Go to walmart for a bowl and save your money for more koi!!!!

Yeah your right brutus.. But also a lot of those are in teh garb as well cause they crack and get brittle after awhile in the sun..

The Japanese tubs are very deep so koi have a hard time jumping out. Both Lims and the Japanese ones are very durable and UV resistant.

Would do that, I have a couple of hard plastic blue bowls myself. The problem is you want something that is deep enough to do whatever. The Lim bowls are convient but they are too shallow.

I always try to tell people that you'll spend $$$$ on koi but not on your equipment. Lims will do the job, but a $$$$ koi can easily jump out as well. You'll save by getting the Japanese bowl from only one fish being saved from jumping out. I had to learn the hard way.
