The ban affects only the use of Baytril in poultry; the drug can still be given to pets and other farm animals that can be treated individually.
They gave Baytril to poultry via the feed. Now they can't. *shrug*

dinh,
baytril is still legal for pet (pest?) that can be treated individaully. only 'flock treating' is banned.

It doesn't matter whether its legal or not, Bayer says their not going to make it anymore. Amikacin works better anyway.

I am glad they banned it. Unfortunately, they will just substitute another antibiotic. They give poultry a lot of supplemental hormones too. I cringe a little every week when picking up that package of chicken in the supermarket and resolve to just slaughter a free-range yard chicken instead next week - but seldom get around to it. -steve hop kins

From what I understand only the powder and tablet forms are off the market. The injectable Baytril 50 and Baytril 100 is still being sold.

I agree Amakacin is better anyhow.
