Hi everybody, I read that if one third of the scale remain on the body, the scale will grow back in a few years, is that right ?

How can you lose 2/3 of a scale?

In my opinion, a koi loses the entire scale. If there is no damage to the base where the scale grows from, it should grow back. You can only hope it will grow back alligned.

Henry I thank you for posting pics of your Kohak and I am sorry for the accident that happened. I hope it wont discourage you from showing, but will teach you abit more. I hope the fish recovers and I hope her showing days aren't completely over.

Trust me, nothing will stop me from showing. She will just have to wait a few more years before she goes to a show again. By then she should have filled out and ready to compete for GC. Only time will tell. I am still going to the show she was to go to, I'll just have to pick another to go.

How about the All-Bay Area show? You fly her down let the experts take care of her. Something to consider....hhhmmmm

Aquitori: That Kohaku gets very tender, loving care. BTW, she is every bit as good in person as in that photo, excepting only the intensity of the red .... in person, she is exactly as she should be for her age. I am jealous of Henry having such a fish, and I don't mind admitting it..... I'm just one in a crowd.

Thanks Mike. I always enjoy when you come over to see her in person. I need to get a bigger pond for her to reach her full potential. I already have the plans drawn up and Leslie is this close to giving in (I am holding my thumb and index fingers very close to each other). Carl is coming down next month to give both Luis and I bids (Luis and Jennifer are looking to have their #2 female pond redone). Hopefully I won't be too shocked by his quote.
