Young Koi Show In Orlando Oct. 15

Well, with so many posts about upcoming shows, I thought I might as well post too. Our little Orlando club is having the first show it has ever done on its own. (All other shows have been joint affairs with other clubs.) It will be a small show at Leu Gardens for fish 18" or smaller. It is one day only. Admission to the Gardens is $5, and truly worth it.

So ...... perhaps only the most kichi among us might drive much distance for this little show, but if you are in the area it should be a fun afternoon at the Gardens. I understand LeeB is coming over from Tampa to show a few little ones, and a couple of folks from Gainesville. It should be fun.

Or, if you want some real laughs, drop by my house at dawn on the 15th. You can watch me try to catch the couple of fish I have under 18" and get to the show before entries are closed! [Note: If you ever intend to catch the fish, do not make the new pond wider than the net handle. ]

You can find out more about Leu Gardens at http://www.leugardens.org/. As Mike mentioned, it is well worth the $5 entry fee to the gardens. Come on the 15th and you get full access to the gardens and get to see a small Koi show at the same time.

Henry, if my Father in Law is doing better, I will try and bring one of my gals. Swing by and pickup Stephen and drag him along!

What an excellent natural setting for a koi show. Beautiful, good idea!

Camelias are very popular down here, and orchids, I have a few varieties in my garden. You north americans should really love visiting that display of nature. I am lucky enough to get to live with most of it. We have orchids growing wild all over our property.

Yeh, this will be the first time I've ever packed up my resident fish for a show. In the past, I've purchased fish I just couldn't live without and "stored" them in tanks (sometimes they won!), but it was more along the lines of storage while I was at the show rather than "showing", per se. This time, because it's little fish, I'm going to haul them along and hope I don't kill them.

Like anything else, the first time is the hardest. After this, I hope it will be much easier. It's only one day, not too far from home, at a nice time of the year. (But I'm gonna leave my Tancho at home and spring him/her at the March show!)

At my age, there aren't many "first time" things left , so this should be interesting.
