SFF Showa 1

Hello

I recently bought two Showa bred by SFF of Hiroshima from oyagoi Olive. The picture below shows one of them. I'm hoping that some of you are willing to judge this showa's quality, or lack of it, on any aspect.

I also would like to give these two koi a japanese name, preferably one that says something about this koi, or it's origin or breeder. Since I do not speak Japanese, I would be gratefull for any suggestion.

Very attractive. I cannot tell the quality of the Hi from the photo. In all other respects, a fine fish.

Both are good tategoi. They have very good shiro and sumi. You have a good chance if you know how to take care of them;-))

It is hard to suggest a name without knowing their sex;-)) just don't want to suggest the name Sue to a male koi;-))))

I think this koi will have an excellent body shape and the placement of black white and red is extremely good.

I suspect the red (hardest of all to get really great red in showa) might be suspect for it's thickness. Please do all you can to keep you PH in the mid 7's.

Hi

since my quarantine (15ton) had a leak in it's 3D epdm liner, it had to be replaced. Therefore, my two showa were staying at a friends quarantine (1.8 ton), together with the showa and ochiba he bought at the same time. But since the liner has been replaced, they finally came home.

I took some new pictures, and measured them. This showa was about 38/39 cm three weeks ago, and now measures 42cm. Also the body has improved considerably. We checked and think this to be a female, but it's hard to tell for sure with nisai.

Let me know what you think?!

That is a very beautiful showa in the making indeed - very striking. Such a nice body shape and pattern, has a strong presence to my (novice) eye even though unfinished. Keep us posted as it progresses.
