SFF Showa 2

Hello

I recently bought two Showa bred by SFF of Hiroshima from oyagoi Olive. The picture below shows one of them. I'm hoping that some of you are willing to judge this showa's quality, or lack of it, on any aspect.

I also would like to give these two koi a japanese name, preferably one that says something about this koi, or it's origin or breeder. Since I do not speak Japanese, I would be gratefull for any suggestion.

Rgds

Not my taste. I prefer the other one.

this koi looks male to me. It is a modern showa or kindai. I don;t believe you will see a lot more black developing. The pec black will consolodate to make a nice tight motoguro. it's a nice koi. many don't understand kindai. They can take awhile to develop.

I truely like both koi, but don't sell this one short.

My great friend kentaro sakai, taught me alot about koi when we worked together. you might consider using his name on this one.......

Thank you very much for your judgement Dick. There is a lot of sumi underneath, but it's hard to see in the pictures. Hope it comes out, but this was the one I took a gamble on.

If this koi turns out to be male, I will surely name it Kentaro

Thanks again,

Regenmeneer

When I moved the showa's from a friends quarantine to mine, we took pictures and measured this koi. It grew from 38cm to 41cm in three weeks.

Shiroji has developed nicely, and sumi is coming through on some places, especially on the head.

Also we checked for gender and think this one is also female. But again, hard to tel for sure with nisai (I'll keep my fingers crossed).

Let me know what you think about this showa?!

I like this one the best by far. The pattern will give it a chance to show off the quality of the white.

I agree with Carolyn, this Showa could be a real stunner.
