At the show Banquet would you like to see or hear?

At the show Banquet would you like to see or hear? This is in regards to anything during the show Banquet, being music or comments on fish..whatever..

Me I like more interesting presentations, like the winners explaining their fish(breeder, age, sex and whatever).

At the Atlanta show, the judges stood up and made comments on each of the major winners - they had pictures up on the screen in the powerpoint presentation while the judges were commenting. It was really nice to hear them talk about why they picked the fish they picked. I also think the owners talking could be interesting - as long as the banquet doesn't go TOO long!

comments from judges for each winning koi will be great. Why judge pick one over other etc...

Good music, UK, and drink too ;-))

What i would like to hear at the Banquet....
"We are passing out a list of all the winners, will those on the list please collect their trophies as they exit the hall tonight."

And then I'd like for the the BIG winners to individual come up and take questions from the Audience, and the esteemed judges...do it in a rapid fire manner. and Have like a two minute time limit for all but the Champions, and koi chosen as exceptional by the judge committee.

I think Koi Kichi can accommodate your wishes.. Along with the judges comments on the major winners.

I've always been impressed with the BKKS National Banquet

Cocktails, Good food, good company (sat with Mike Snaden in fact), entertainment and then dancing...the awards were held off until Sunday.

This made for a very enjoyable evening albeit the winners weren't announced.
I think limited raffles (a few big ticket items), short discussion on major winners and entertainment can make for an enjoyable banquet that people want to stay at and enjoy instead fo rushing off back to the hotel bar. Just my thoughts.

let's see I am looking at this in a different light....

"You are the hottest man here." (hopefully not said by any of the menfolk)

"And with a homebred and homegrown 115 cm Showa, with a 10 of 10 confirmation. Motguro, menware, kiwa, sashi and pattern that are above and beyond anything any of our judges have ever even consider could exist, Luke Frisbee takes Mature Champion and Runner-up to himself as his already Dollar-winning Quality koi Sanke that he raised from a 4 inch fry which he got from a grow out competiton organized by HenryC."

yeah, yeah...that's what i like to hear at the banquet....

Luke, I really hope you hear that

Please excuse me if I don't hold my breath though

Talking of course about you being the hottest man there! You may have a better shot with the 4" fry

One of my favorite banquets ever (Steve C. was there with me) was at the PNKCA meeting a couple years ago. They had a stand up comic work the crowd before dinner, and do a bit after dinner that was a complete riot.

The other thing, at the same banquet, what I like to see most....shrimp and salmon, no rubber chicken.

So I guess I like to see a stand up comic, fresh seafood, and fun people talking about fish.

Well, Luke, I disagree a bit. The award presentations are an important function. About 30 minutes should do it. As for all the thanking of everyone who volunteered, great thing to do ... takes about 30 seconds. I never want to spend so long and boring an evening as the KoiAmerica banquet last August. When folks start feeling they should be paid to endure it, you've got a problem. On the other hand, everyone was interested in hearing what the judges had to say, even with the translation delays. I don't know if I'm going to care much for the Koiphen Show doing a "hoe-down" as a substitute, but I expect it will not be boring.
