Hey, that picture of beer has an Akinosan stuck to it.

(Akinosan is a rare species who breeds Chuppa in 8000 Gallons sludge ponds)

Feel lucky when you have made an Akinosan sighting..! Approach very carefully and make sure to have at least 1 bottle of beer on hand and or cake In case it gets aggressive..

as a bencher for many NW shows, I learn each year the ability of the koi keepers to prepare their koi. As I touch and inspect the koi they tell me a lot like a geology student, you learn to read what the koi is telling you. Good water,
Good slime coat, proper fasting, is the koi acutally at it's peak or is the person just entering any koi in a shotgun approach and hope something is ready. You don't see koi entered into a show that is not ready to compete.

Many owners stand by as i inspect and document their entrants. to these i will comment to help with their education.

to those that just drop and run, I just smile. They're too busy to be involved
and TO LEARN!

Appreciating the time koi keepers spent with you as you started out with koi.
We never forgot that.
