Can a female koi be infertile?

This would be the second season I used a Hasegawa female with three smaller males and again all eggs went white.
Even after 6 days no eggs hatched, same as last year.No fungus, just white.
All males checked positive for milt.
She spawns very easily and has the best bodyshape.
The eggs were kept at constant temps like all other spawnings, only no fertile eggs.

That is a real mystery Jaco. Am sorry to hear this. Have not run up against a gravid female who's eggs were not viable. Am not saying that it is not possible, just have never encountered that before. I guess that if a female was to drop her eggs before ovulation this is possible, but usally she will not begin to produce pheramone to attract the males until she has begun to ovulate.
Wish I could be of more help. I am sure that someone on this forum will have a better answer.
Was this a natural or induced spawning?

Hi Kiefer,

Natural spawning.
They did spawn the first night after being moved to the spawning tank, so I guess she must have been ready.

Anyone else?

Hi Jaco,

I don't know is such infertility is possible, but the only question I have is:
did you make any treatment during the period before spawning ?, because some treatment could alterate the egs fertility.

Females,...

Hi Jaco,

Yes, female Koi can be infertile,... with all eggs dead, or poor, or with some good eggs and some not good. Part of what makes a Koi a great parent fish IS her ability to produce a lot of good healthy eggs. Some parent fish can only deliver good fry every other season, some stop all together after several good years, and some deliver like clockwork every year. Some that show infertile eggs one season can produce fertile eggs later on.

Part of what affects this is the Koi's health - part is simply genetics. My parent fish are prepped for months before they are spawned, and I can see during this prep time which will have a good season, and which won't - by their body shape, the way they swim and carry themselves, by the way they eat, by their overall health and lustre.

Best Wishes,
Brady Brandwood

Thanks Brady,

That was exactly the answer I was looking for.
This being the second season of no fry I presume she will never produce
I will have to find another Kohaku female with such a great body shape
Thanks again
