How would your life be different today without Koi?

If you didn't have Koi in your life, what would be significantly different for you right now? For me it would be the number of good people that I have met in this hobby would be missing. Also the bottom line in my bank account would be bigger! How about you?

I would hve a lot more time to travel.. I prolly would be on a side of a clif hanging off my finger tips.. or in a river flyfishing and have more money as well.

Wait.. I do all of that anyhow,... except the money thing which I don't have.. Yes the many acquaintences I have met along the Journey makes a difference..

Thought I would meet alot more chicks but that isn't the case...Well anyways, in any hobby your goin to spend money, I know alot of you out there are still sitting on Beenie Babies wishing you could recover what you spent...HAHAHAHAHA...I think koi are like "Golden Age" Comics, they retain tere value.

As for my life, I dont think it would be different, but maybe I wouldn't have met the friends I have today. Keokoi, Akinosan, Erwinsan, Koinut, Showanut, Mulberryjen, Gelldu, Shir, Woodyaht, Nancy M, Champkoi, Genkikoi and whoever I haven't mentioned please forgive me...Nancy is right in the other thread in that the koi world is such a small world...

I would still watch my two kids grow up at home but would not know what to do with all my extra time. Revert back to playing video games perhaps? Nah, been there and done that already.

I would probably be much more stressed if I did not have my koi. I would have to miss some good friends whom I met through the love of koi. I would have more money, go on vacations, would not have a japanese style garden.

But thats all I would not have, but would not miss if I never had known the joy of koi. But having experienced the joy of koi, and would have to miss it, I would probably go cooccoooooo. I know that back in 1999 when I lost all my koi to KHV, and didn't have koi for several months, I felt like ...t.

My entire life has been revolved around the japanese culture, mainly koi and Bonsai. But japanese gardens, ikebana, suisekui.

I wouldn't be who i am without this influence. Just think it all started 40 years ago, with the far east network tokyo ( armed forces radio and television) when a crew cut "army-boysan" took his first few steps in the land of the Rising sun!

We wouldn't have the passion or the love of koi. Our lives would definitely be short changed...going to Japan changed our lives forever and forever better!
