Go and buy yourself a 6 pack of Pearl beer and celebrate cause you hit the Mother Load. Might be "bonsai" koi but enjoy the collection for what it is, as long you are of age that is. Love the tancho showa.

Thumbs up Good choices

It looks like you have a fairly good selection there. I personally prefer the mauten Kohaku at the top left. It seems to have a fairly good shape for this size fish, nice odome, and fairly clean sashi and Kiwa. With all of these koi time will tell as they are all quite young, and may change dramatically. However, it is a little hard to compare them due to the angles that some are swiming at. I wouldn't mind having some of those in my pond(if i only had the room).

they look great, if not touched up. Time will tell.

With a little garlic, some ginger, spring onion, sesame oil, saki, red pepper, and small amount of soy sauce they will taste wonderful.

thanks for the welcome guys... been in the hobby for more than 10 years already but it has only been the past 3 years or so that i found a dealer with high quality imports from japan. I am quite interested to see how to identify the "best value for money japanese koi" as they dont come very cheap

junglegeorge... nope the pics are not touched up. i just resized them to make the pic smaller.

kingkong .... am more than of age its festival time here in our city so a lot a drinking to be done this week.

aquitori and dick... thanks for the warm welcome... im partial to kahakus and showas myself... the bigger tancho showas head has a few black spots in the tancho. The smaller one has a red spot near the tail and im hoping some sumi will cover it later on

jbolding ... i have been thining out my collection as it is getting to be a bit overcrowded... adding new stocks and selling some of the less attractive ones

Where in the Philippines are you from longlong? Also, I heard they were banning importation of Japanese koi into the Philippines, is this true?

im from bacolod city. thats about an hour by plane from manila. The ko import ban has been lifted but there are so many regulations that you have to follow in order to import koi from japan. I do not know how my dealers contacts go about it

My lady is from Bacolod, nice meeting you. All I can say with the right amount of money you can get anything through customs. Well, I hope you continue raising your fish and I hope you post pics of the fish as they develop.
