Depends on which show you mean

The predecessor to the ZNA all Japan and the Shinkokai All Japan was a combined show in 1968. It was NOT won by a Japanese national but by Mits Nakamura, a US citizen who migrated from Japan to Hawaii and then on to Southern California and founded Asahi Fancy Koi. Mits won this show with a Showa he obtained from Kuroki San (sp?). After finding out Mits was not Japanese (was but not residing there anymore) they revoted so that a Japanese National would win. Mits received all of the honors except the "public" ones and it wasn't until the 1990s that anything in print actally came out recognizing Mit's win publically (Nichirin). Or so the story goes

Interesting story Steve! We had Mits' son Henry help judge our show this year, I wish I had known about this then, I would have asked him about it. I think they have familial bragging rights for forever!

very interesting story.

seems like it's about time for us to start the "ZNA The World" or change
the April 1/2 2006 "All Bay Area Koi Show" to "The International Koi Show".
With that we will appreciate and not dis-qualify any entrants;-))

Sorry for the delay on the answer, but you are correct in your answer. I give you props for your research...Everyone seems to think it is Kuroki's male Showa, but it isn't....

So it is the doitsu sanke then. By the way, no research, just a strange mind at work. Read it somewhere in the past......

Keep up the good work Aquitori, keep teaching us.

Rgds

No problem, like to share whatever knowledge I come about so everyone can learn....I will think of a few more while I am here in Missou...My mind tends to work slower here in the Midwest....
