I feel better about buying from someone who is upfront about their problems and who have a plan to deal with an issue.

Clearly, knowing what they now know, they would not sell fish they thought were compromised.

In any case, I would quarantine at home, heat them up and see what happens.

If I could by one to a reasonable dealer, who make a decent quarantene taking care of the temperature, I would by one. That's the best thing to help Momotaro, but, there are no Momotaro dealer near by.

I've not had a Momotaro koi. Perhaps there will be a side benefit to all of this for folks like me .... maybe a female Momotaro Kohaku will get into the U.S. that costs less than a Toyota? .... Those thousand dollar male jumbo tosai are nice, but not how I want to fill my pond.

Maybe since none of you would buy them, I can get some better pricing on some. I would for sure buy some, but they would be in QT a lot longer with some heat cycling. Anyone selling some real cheap yet?

Bring a croker sack and you can have all you want out of the #3 greenhouse for 20 USD...

Brian I hear that having a little humor about such things isn't a bad thing...but go ahead delete it..but HE started it!

croker sack = crocus sack = gunnysack = tow bag = burlap bag

Do they even make those anymore? All you can get here are the plastic ones.

Without hessitation

There is only one issue in the question you raised and that brings the ball back home to you. Confidence. The way Momotaro Koi Farm have handled this situation has been unique in the hobby. I personaly feel safe in the knowledge that what has come out is safe as assured by both Mike Snadden and Momotaro and would not hesitate at buying one if it caught my eye. The only problem I have is finding a Kohaku I like! I look forward to spending more money on quality koi with the addition of future Momotaro koi soon

Koi Herpes Virus

I do not know much about koi herpes virus. Other herpes viruses including human herpes viruses are notorius for staying latent for months and perhaps years until stress goes up or immunity goes down. Does anyone know whether the same could be true for the koi virus? I have twenty fishes in the pond. A Momotaro kohaku would be nice but I am not sure about the cost in dollar and disease.

After reading the responses, I thought I should wait until March '06. Why to buy a tosai in the fall? Thanks for your response.
