Rate These Momotaro Kohaku

I purchased these two from Sean of Keirin Koi, at the all Florida Show, March 8th 2004. At the time I was told that they were 5 months old. By my caculations that would put the hatch date at the beginning of Oct 2003 and make them nisai (right term?) now.
For those who know the Momotaro operation, is it standard for them to have a fall spawn? I thought most spawns were in May.

Anyway Koi #1 won first in size 1 while #2 won third. Sorry I don't have a march,2004 pic of #2 alone, only when he was bowled w/#1.
Tell me what you think, any potential?

Thanks,

Jim

I like the one that came in 3rd better. Seems like it has deeper beni, cleaner sashi, and a nice odome. Just goes to show how much I know.

Dan I have to say that there is (in person a very noticeable differance in the sashi of these two.) #1 is razor sharp while, #2 meanders a bit.
I will say that when I asked one of the judges to elaborate on the verdict he said that #2 was a 'fish for the future' and #1 had such a sharp sashi that it it was placed higher now.
I personally like # 2s pattern better but it does have some flaws, namely hi in the tail fin and pecs. However I'm told that as a fish grows to GC size those flaws become less relivant.
Thanks for your comments.
