I have no clue what I am going to spend. A limited koi budget would probably be a good idea but........

Nada....I hope.... Ponds are at their limit of 1, 27" koi/150 gallons... Koi aren't that big yet but that's the ratio we use...

In order to buy another koi, one of existing koi has to die and I'd hate for that to happen...We treat our koi like our kids, even though they may not meet our expectations for them, we wouldn't think of chucking um... Well the younger one...............

I think as your learning curve grows you will find good show quality koi within your price range. That might sound funny, but it is true. I think next year the whole "Unit" crew should plan a Japan invasion and hangout....

Now you're talking! Need to find an elementary school in Niigata area to visit so I can call trip "professional development" and get my butt off work at the right time of year....... or we can go right after the 2006 ABAKS show is over. Bag those koi, pack up the show tanks, and get on a plane!

I don't know if anything is in my budget this year. I used my budget up last year for the next few years. If I can find somewhat nice sanke cheap I will add one to the pond. I think spring will be calling for a few to play with.

What you're going to leave the rest of us out of the fun? I think it should be a Koi-Bito invasion.

Tom, that sounds even better!

Fall budget.......hmmmm. Still wavering on pond issues here at home as winter is around the corner. But if I could keep a fish or two in "storage" until Spring when I can make a few improvements to the puddle, I may find some $$$ to spare if I see a "gotta have it." Would love a nice Hi Utsuri, always like a nice Kohaku or Sanke, got a soft spot for Aka Matuba as well......wouldn't mind a ginrin Showa just for the heck of it...........a yamabuki ogon would be nice........Mike wants a good Kujaku........

Guess I better get that pond ready!

I had a budget of $1,500 to $2,000 to spend last year. My first koi sucked that up and I added about 7 new koi to the pond. My wife is telling me NO MORE this year. That's OK she tells me that all the time. If I do find that sanke, it might come home. She will get over it in time. All I want for the pond is a sanke now. I think I might have to sell lemon aid on the corner to get more money for one.

Joe, keep your eyes open for me please!

My son just participated in a "summit meeting" with his class and another class of similar age from Japan. The summit was a teleconference with the Japanese class with translators etc. They have been studying Japan and have Japanese pen pals. You want me to get a contact for you? Maybe you can have your students do the same?
