Bakki showers and cold weather climates

bakki showers seem to do some great degassing. But with colder climates will you turn it off or run it all winter? Seems like a dramatic change in temps could happen.

I'll be turning mine off. With temps that regularly go below freezing for long periods of time I wish for my Bakki to remain a Bakki Shower and not a Bakki Ice Maker.

This will be a new experience for me this year. I believe that during the hottest part of our summer the Bakki actually warmed the water. I've never had such high pond temps, but we did have a brutal summer and the air temps were not cooled by the trees the 2004 hurricanes eliminated. My winter concern is not with freezing temps, but with having rapid temperature changes when a cold front comes through overnight. We experience winter days in the high 70sF, but can expect to have occasional overnight drop in temps into the 40sF. I'll be wrapping the Bakki in plastic to retain heat so sudden temperature changes do not occur, but not sure if that will be enough. I've had ich appear in my old pond when water temps were in 60sF simply because of too great an overnight drop.

My shower will remain on, just as it did all last Winter. It is encased in Poly carbonate and I feel there is usually some heat lost, but perhaps some gained on sunny warm days. I do retain a temperature of 15 degrees with a gas boiler and didnt notice any particular increase in cost last Winter. Pond is uncovered with no Pergola or roof.

My shower system will be cut off all winter. Only filter running will be a bead and one pump powering it.

Ours was run all last winter, in the beginning without any cover. The heater could not keep up. After encasing it like others on here, the temps were stable at 55F all the time I wanted it to be. So it will always be run all winter.

Yes, this winter it may go all the way down to 65 degrees F on a cold night, so I think I may need a boiler...just kidding, mine never needs to go off. If I look up one day and it's snowing here I will be too busy taking pics and jumping for joy to think about the bakki.

Do the showers require sunlight? Currently planning a pond undercover and semi-enclosed. Little chance of sun exposure into the pond. With winter on the verge, what is to be expected with running a shower set-up? Even if I wrap or enclose tower bins with media, will system mature? Thanks.
