Exclamation Rumors and lies

Folks,

Regardless of what you may have heard, Momotaro is not shutting down or firing their staff. Please do not help to further spread these unsubstantiated rumors as they are UNTRUE.

We've gotten in straight from the horses' mouth and it is simply bad information, which I'd like to think wasn't meant to be malicious, but I'm not so sure?

They are up and running, just not sure of when they'll be able to move or sell fish again.

just amazing, this is the only group/organization/hobby etc that I've ever known to be so full of secrets....and if everyone would be open this wouldn't have even got off the ground.

I think that Momotaro has been pretty open about this matter. Not sure that I can say the same for others though...

Momotaro has been....but the hobby has a penchant for breeding rumors and harboring secrets, and rewards those that go around whispering to each other...immaturity is often rewarded in this hobby, and many believe it is appropriate to whisper, gossip, and even start rumors...

I get told a 'tidbit" and either come on a BB and go, "Is there any truth to this?"... or I go ahead and call it trash...often i just call who it is about and ask them....inevitably i am asked who said it. Now that I won't tell as I like beiing told rumors so i can ask the person that it is about whether it is true....and if i told "my source" then I'd get even further out of the loop,,,but then until the person the rumor is about knows I am asking just to get the truth i get some pretty tough posturing...

But then i go back to my source and tell them "the reality"...some sources quit talking to me because I don't support the lies

Just like when it was announced here that Momotaro had KHV...and I asked WHERE it came from...cuz that was what the rumor mill would get ahold of next...right after who got sent KHV fish

if ya don't say EVERYTHING then they'll fill in the rest...and if they don't like you, it won't be nice stuff they make up.....they will call you -san to your face...

At least in Momotaro's case he can take solace in the fact that it is more than likely generated from either greed or his success creating envy and avarice

So, where do you sign up to get in the loop for these malicious lies. The only news I receive is right here. :>]

I hadn't heard that rumour over here. I think the prompt action by Mike Snadden stopped the rumour mill before it got started. Momo's own announcement a day or so later kept everything under control.

I'd be surprised if it doesn't surface in a week or two, but we can resort to
publishing your post if it does.

This time and the Spring are usually the times for the rumour mill to swing into action. It always seems to coincide with the harvests and the buying trips organised by dealers. Usually those going to Niigata hear rumours about the South and vice versa. Until Mike's post I'd never heard of one mentioning an area or a breeder that they visit.

Last year all the rumours centered around Konishi, I never saw anything to confirm or deny it, but mud sticks and several prominent dealers no longer mention their links to Konishi anymore. True or false, they've been damaged. I think Momo's decision to publish and be damned has given the hobbyists a greater sense of security and I hope he will benefit from that when he is back on the ball.

For an example, he may have fired one of the workers, and here goes the rumor, people cant seam to get the facts straight and it goes from one to the whole kit and kabotal. For instance, this past weekend was Jacks high school reunion. A couple was coming down to sing for the class on the way down they had a wreck, well the driver has a brace on his neck and is doing fine, but by the time it got to the class mates he was paralized and in very bad shape, could not walk and was in the hospital. The one the set up the class reunion made one quick phone call and ended that rumor, got the truth from family.

Luke I agree with you, I dont alway believe what I hear and will ask for sourse of info and if sourse is a good one then I will sit on that and not tell anyone else. Some people just cant stop rumor mills, its like a TV series, it just keep coming back, with a differnt sorry all the time.

Couldn't agree with you more. Sometimes get info from Japan, which is questionable, or highly sensitive. I'll try to confirm, but must be 300% sure before I'll tell anyone.

The peach boy in the children's fairy tales of japan (momotaro) is a brave adventurous lad, who is a fighter and does not give up until he achieves his end.

I think this breeder is appropriately named.

don't count him short, as the dear governor of Cali-for-kneea is often quoted as saying...
" He'll be bock"......
