Steve you bring up an interesting point. From my understanding, Tom was the dealer here, correct? If that's the case - why isn't anyone pointing any fingers at TOM for bad customer service?

If I go to wal-mart, and I buy a product, and that product turns out to be defective.... wal-mart replaces the product. Sure, behind the scenes they might take the product back to the manufacturer and get a replacement, but as the customer I never see that. If I buy a pump from al zimmer, and it's faulty - I'm returning the pump to al zimmer. If any sales person told me I had to wait for the manufacturer to check the product, they would be showing themself to be the worst sales person ever. When I was in college I worked nights at a retail store selling technology products - printers, pc's, that kind of crap. If we EVER tried to tell a customer that he had to wait for a manufacturer to replace a faulty product, there would have been hell to pay. As the dealer, it is YOUR responsibility to resolve the problem immediately. The only way a customer should ever deal with a manufacturer is if the problem occurs after months of usage. Looking at this defect it seems clear the problem didn't develop later.

Val

I did not make mention of Tom C as the dealer/installer/sellar because I do not know it to be factual. I do know that Tom has attempted to "help" SCV with the issue.

Here's one for the brain trust

OK, we all now know that the flange on the wet end housing was defective in this case causing the pump to suck air. Other than leaks in the supply side piping under normal conditions, what else could cause a pump to "suck air" Actually it would cause the basket or supply side piping to leak as well).

I mentioned other possibilities for the leakage other than a visible defect. Suppose the defect wasn't visible and the vacumm test was performed? Then what? What "if" the seals held vacuum to the design specifications? Careful, tricky part there.

Anyone?

As I mentioned, both SCV and Tom C were present during Williams test.
First this is not true Steve, Brain was in the area the first time the pump was taken in. I told him I would, but he did. So I wasn't their. The second time I dropped off the pump because William said he want to let it run longer. So I never was their to see this pump tested.

Sorry Valarc, I bent over back words for this issue. I called Lim a number of times about it. I also took the pump in for Lim to look at it ( a hours drive). I told Lim a number of times it was a bad wet end on the pump. Lim kept telling me like he tells everyone it's the plumbing or the installer. I can tell you it's wasn't me that installed it. I did go over a number of times to the customer house to deal with this issue making sure it wasn't the plumbing. All I would get out of Lim is it's the plumbing. I'm sorry I did give this customer, customer service.

What I can tell you is Lim is giving some wrong info to Steve. Lim knew how the pond was set-up. He told Steve he didn't. I sat at his shop and told him. I told Lim about the gasket not fitting all the way on the one side. Elliott even replaced the lid on the pump because of it.

It all comes down to a bad wet end Lim sold. I know of other people with this issue also. Steve said Lim will take care of the other pumps also. I suggest to Mike T to tell his friend about this issue and Lim will replace the pump.

Didnt think one pump could ever get so much attention. I dont have 3 years of experience with this pump but have seen it and had a chance to play with it. Upon my recieving the pump and looking over it and testing to our standards it appeared not to leak. I tried several different methods but none of which showed the pump leaking. WE have only been manufacturing pumps for a round 5 years now so evidently there is more things we can learn over time. We have sold thousands of dragon pumps and have only seen a few bad wet ends. When any plastic part is injection molded there is allways a chance then in the colling process and when the machine operator retract's the item there is allways room for error, unfortunatly for us in the pump business this can cause quite a problem when a plastic piece needs to be water tight. It does not seem to be the issue as to the pump leaking or us not knowing the pump was leaking, it seems that is besides the point. The point i am sure everyone is trying to strees is the need to meet higher service and testing capabilties, ones that may have not been met in this case. Manufacturing maturity may play a key role in this instance. As any company grows they should strive to better assist the customer. To the best of our knowledge at that time, we felt we had met an appropriate means to testing and the pump showed no sign of leaking. Im sure in the future we will try to better test our units when a problem like this may arrise.

We are one of the faster growing pump companies in the market right now, because of our unique line of pumps. We manufacture very pond related pumps able to accomidate many different kinds of filter lines and pond applications. Gpm with watt per gallon me manufacture the most efficiant line of pumps.
Thanks to Steve C for helping us handle and rectifying this situation, thanks to any loyal customers and appologies to any dissatisfied customers.

Tom - did you or did you not sell the pump to SVC?

If the answer is yes, it was YOUR responsibility to replace the pump, and then you and william could duke it out. The customer should never have even spoken to william.
