Arrow Rx for Fish - you gotta watch this

this is new. the reporter even mentioned herpes virus. click the link below and check out the 4 short video clips on Rx for Fish.

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/sciencenow/3214/04.html

I actually saw the segment on Wendy the koi surgery and Dave Smothers doing physical therapy with Sassy. it's a lot more sad to watch the whole thing on TV.

extreme? maybe. unconditional love for their fish pets? no doubt!!

Thanks for posting that site Steve. I saw it on TV last night but was so dum-struck that I missed the guy's name.

Hi

Just watched it, and looked great. But the last item struck me since I too have a female koi that has her back bend in a serious way. Two or three years ago, x-ray were taken and an ultrasound was made. The verdict was that it had a scoliose due to the reproducive organ being very developed on one side, and hardly on the other. According to the vet, it should go away when the other side developed as well. Which still hasn't happenend I guessed, because it's still crooked. But now I'm wondering if it could have been lightning as well, since it was bend from one day to the next. Could it be that only one koi in a pond is affected by lightning?

Rgds

Great! first time heard the fish's heartbeat, sounds like the human's as well...

Please note that, the AKCA KHV research project is also being conducted at the same university, NC State University - College of VM, by Shannon Kozlowicz, DVM. Not so sure how much Dr. Lewbart has involving in KHV project, but for sure Shannon will has his inputs if need.

Thanks for the link . . .

that was very educational (sad, too).

We've got a fish doc here in SoCal that used to come to our house to make "pond" calls (that was back in 2003), but then his practice grew and nowadays one has to take their koi to his office for treatment. Does surgery and the whole bit -- but don't think he's near as high tech as that!

He's a wonderful guy: Dr. Rob Hildreth in Irvine, Orange Co., CA (if anyone's in need). Don
