Hi
Just copied this from there site ¡Up Date 20 October 2005
On October 17th, the Ministry of Fisheries returned to our farm for the 4th time, this time to test every pond in 4 of our greenhouses. On October 19th we received the results and have acted accordingly by euthanizing infected fish.@So far, all our Nisai and older fish in our greenhouses have tested negative, with the exception of the September auction koi. We will continue to retest koi that show no symptoms of KHV even though they have tested negative for KHV in the past.
We have also received test koi, ones that are absolutely KHV-free and healthy, that we will add to all our ponds to see if they contract the virus from our koi. This is another way to test ponds that are not showing signs of KHV. So far, the 500 ton house, Male oyagoi house, and 1500 ton house have no signs of KHV and our records show that no infected koi were moved into these houses. All of our mudponds are in good health as well.
We now know that we contracted KHV from some koi we bought last winter to be used as potential parent koi. These koi were mixed with one pond of other koi at our farm. Using our records, we know where the exposed koi are and all have already been euthanized. We are not going to say who these koi came from, as it is everyonefs own choice to admit when they have a problem. We have chosen to be open about our KHV infection because we realize the importance of protecting ourselves, dealers, and customers from this problem in the future. Our focus is to eliminate KHV from our farm and get back to producing and raising the best koi we can.
We have been overwhelmed by the well wishes and offers of help from all over the world. We are working hard to continue to make high class koi that can be enjoyed the world over.
Regards
Chris
